Multi Engine Piston Class Rating Instructor
In order to teach people to fly the complex multi engine aircraft which are available to PPL holders you would need to undertake a multi engine instructor course. The ME instructor must be trained to deliver the correct groundschool briefings and de-briefings and as such the instructor course includes 35 hours of mandatory groundschool.
What are the experience and training requirements?
Pre entry requirements are for the applicant to hold at least the qualification for which you are to instruct. (I.E. a valid qualification to act as pilot in command on MEP aircraft) In addition you must also have at least 500 hours experience as pilot in command on aeroplanes. You must also have a minimum of 30 hours P1 experience on multi engine piston class aircraft.
The course consists of 5 hours of flying and 35 hours of groundschool training. Following the training there will be a test with a CAA approved examiner.
